Pour Over
A pour-over is a manual brewing method where hot water is poured over coffee grounds in a filter, allowing the coffee to drip into a mug or carafe. It offers precise control, producing a clean, flavorful cup that highlights the coffee's unique flavors.
Pour-Over Coffee Brewing Guide
What You’ll Need:
- Freshly ground coffee (medium grind, like sea salt)
- Pour-over dripper (e.g., Hario V60, Chemex)
- Paper filter
- Hot water (195-205°F / 90-96°C)
- Scale and timer
- Mug or carafe

1. Prepare Your Tools
Place a paper filter in your dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste. Discard the rinse water and set the dripper on your mug or carafe.

2 . Measure and Add Coffee:
Use a 1:15 to 1:17 coffee-to-water ratio (e.g., 20g coffee for 300g water). Add freshly ground coffee (medium grind) to the filter and level the grounds.

3. Bloom the Coffee
Heat water to 195-205°F (90-96°C). Pour just enough water to saturate the grounds (about 50g) and let it sit for 30-45 seconds to allow gases to escape.

4. Pour the Water
Slowly pour the remaining water in a circular motion, keeping the water level consistent. Avoid pouring directly on the filter edges. Aim for a total brew time of 2.5-3.5 minutes.

5. Enjoy Your Coffee
Discard the filter, give your coffee a gentle swirl, and savor the rich, nuanced flavors of your pour-over brew.
